Marvin Lee Buell, a resident of the Wilson community, died Sept. 6, 2017 in Henryetta at the age of 87. He was born in Miltonvale, Kansas July 28, 1930 to Marvin Graham Buell and Grace Elizabeth (Sommers) Buell. He was the third child and had two older sisters.
Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, and one son, Daniel Isac Buell.
He married Fannie May Buckman on March 21, 1957. They had been married for 60 years when he passed. Marvin was a retired Pastor and Missionary for the Church of the Nazarene. Marvin and Fannie traveled to many Spanish speaking countries spreading the word of God to others. They were missionaries to Old Mexico and the Panama Canal Zone.
Marvin served in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Marvin earned a bachelor's degree in ministry from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. Marvin was a Pastor, a missionary, and a bus driver for the school in Kentucky. Marvin has been a Sunday School teacher for many years, the Elderly Chaplain, and provided many other various church related duties.
He is survived by two living children: Kim Buell Fields and Jonathan Marcus Buell. Kim and her husband Bob live in Greenville, Texas and Jonathan and wife Laura Buell live in the Wilson community near Henryetta; five grandchildren: Christopher Buell of Wilson community (Henryetta), Nick and Monica and two great grandchildren, Emma and Colton of the Wilson community (Henryetta), Cody Lee Fields of Austin, Texas, and Kimberly Noel (Fields) Fugitt and Brett Fugitt of Greenville, Texas.
Viewing will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held September 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 711 North Okmulgee in Okmulgee with Pastor Dale Fillmore officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Buell, Nick Buell, Erick Ringgold, Harold Dunn, John Stedman and Ron Summers. Honorary bearers are Brett Fugitt and Cody Fields.
Services will be under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
