James E. "Jim" Parsley, a longtime resident of Henryetta, died Sept. 19, 2017 in Muskogee at the age of 71. Jim was born July 4, 1946 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Clyde Parsley and Hazel Rabel Parsley.
At approximately 6 years old, Jim moved with his family to the Tulsa area. He attended school at Berryhill Public Schools. After high school, Jim joined the U.S. Navy in 1963, where he served a tour of duty as a stationary Engineer during the Viet Nam war. Jim also served several years in the US Army, before returning to the Navy where he retired with over 20 years of faithful service to his country.
Jim was a member of the Elks Lodge in Okmulgee for many years. He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Henryetta. He was very active in planning and organizing the Labor Day Events in Henryetta for many years. Jim attended the First Baptist Church of Dewar. He was also a longtime and successful owner of Imperial Music and Jewelry Store in Henryetta. Jim married the love of his life, Donna Connell and they remained happily enjoined until his death. Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Parsley of the home; two daughters: Karen Parsley of Tulsa and Donna Riley and husband Ron of Grove; three sons: Joe McIntosh and wife Hannah of Henryetta, Chuck McIntosh of Henryetta, and Daniel McIntosh of Henryetta; four grandchildren: Jasmine McIntosh of the home, Zac Parsley of Tulsa, Sarah Riley of Grove, and Morgan Owen of Morris; two great grandchildren: Adalee and Paisley Parsley of Tulsa; a brother, David Parsley and wife Sherry of Okmulgee; as well as other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2 until 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Robert Yandle officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy.
Pallbearers will be Joe McIntosh, Richard Hall, Chuck McIntosh, Zac Parsley, and Jonathan Yandle. Honorary bearers will be Bob Patterson, Herman Thompson, Gene Devore, Gary Starkey, and James Connell.
