Donald "Curly" Fish, a longtime resident of Hanna, died Oct. 5, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 72. Curly was born in Weleetka on May 6, 1945 to William "Bill" Fish and Betty Riley.
He grew up in the Dustin area and attended school at Graham. Following his high school graduation, Curly attended Chilocco Indian School in northern Oklahoma. Curly joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and faithfully served for three years, including a tour of duty in Viet Nam. Curly was an honored and decorated veteran including medals awarded such as the Viet Nam Service medal with two bronze stars. Curly spent most of his adult life working as a carpenter, and was a member of the local carpenter's union. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; a twin brother, Ronald "Blackie" Fish; a brother, Bill "Junior" Fish; a brother. Albert Fish; and a sister, Linda Patterson.
Curly is survived by his best and closest friend, Kathy Garrison of Hanna and Jaylon Cox of Hanna; a daughter, Sandra Fish of Chicago, IL; by three brothers, Frank Fish, Roy Fish and wife Darla, and Ray Fish; a sister, Mary Alred; a brother-in-l;aw, Bob Patterson; by numerous adopted children including Ryan Cox, Tori Anderson, Tamra Morgan, Cary Odom, Damien Stapp, William Cox, Frank Cummisky, Chris Cummisky, and Mark Cummisky; by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many good friends.
Viewing will be held Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at The Apostolic Church of Hanna in Hanna, Oklahoma with Rev. Tim Stacy officiating and Barney Ingram providing the eulogy. Curly will be laid to rest at Fish Hill Family Cemetery in Okfuskee County. Military honors will be provided by Creek Nation Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Torie Anderson, Trellas Patterson, Tennie Cox, Karen Tate, Nancy Harmon, and Nikki Jones. Honorary bearers will be Jaylon Cox, Cortland Martin, Tony Hull, Bob Patterson, and Barney Ingram.
