The Henryetta Ministerial Alliance is needing help from the public.
Plans call for the group to host the “Day of Blessing” Nov. 18 designed to feed local families for Thanksgiving.
Sam Walker, youth minister and associate pastor at the First Baptist Church, said the program started four years ago. “Through this ministry hundreds of families have been fed over the years and it is our goal to make that happen again,” he said. “For the last three years we were blessed with the opportunity to provide groceries for over 1,400 families. We would love to be able to do this again but we need the funds to do it.”
He explained it costs $50 to feed one family for a week. “This includes the fixings for a number of meals as well as a turkey or a ham.”
On the Day of Blessing, families will meet at the Church of the Nazarene. “They will be escorted by one of our volunteers through a process of gathering their food and will have it loaded into their vehicle for them.”
If anyone would like to donate or volunteer, they should contact Jeff Williamson (918)-652-9608 at the Church of the Nazarene or Sam Walker (918)-652-4277 at the Henryetta First Baptist Church. Funding will need to be met by Nov. 5, 2017.
