Hazel Verdie Stubbs died Nov. 14, 2017 in Tulsa at the age of 94. Hazel was born in Sasakwa April 8, 1923 to John Henry and Pearl Estelle (Chambers) Rains. Hazel was raised by her foster parents, Clayton Ward and Rachel Inez (Horton) Hunter. Hazel passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the age of 94.
Hazel married W. R. Stubbs Sept. 4, 1939 in Okemah. Their union was blessed with a daughter and a son, Dickie, who preceded her in death. Hazel was a volunteer at the Henryetta Hospital, a member of the Ithana Club and the Friendship Class at her church. She was also an Eastern Star member. Hazel was raised in the Sasakwa area by her family.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her foster parents, husband W.R. Stubbs, son Dickie Stubbs, brothers Vernon Rains, Earl Gray, Pinto Gray, TJ Hunter and great granddaughter Taylor Fritze.
Hazel is survived by a daughter, Lou Bunch and husband Charles, Broken Arrow; grandchildren: Tami Bunch, Cecyl Stubbs, Woody Stubbs, Jimmy Bunch and wife Kim, Karen East Vaughn, Rose Conkwright and husband Bob, Stacey Kelley and husband Kiley; numerous great grandchildren; brothers: Bennie Rains and Paul Rains; half-siblings; Boyd Holson, Ada Jena Ryles, Kaye Luetgens, Patsy Jo Tucker.
Friends may visit the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. with family there to receive visitors from 3 to 5 p.m.

Services honoring her life will be held at 1 p.m., November 20, 2017 at First Church of the Nazarene, Henryetta. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery, Henryetta,
