The first week of 2018 is going to be a busy one for the HHS basketball teams.
Tuesday at 6:30, Henryetta hosts Bristow and will be wanting to make up for the losses the Knights and Lady Knights sustained in the season opener in November.
The Knights lost 59-64 and the Lady Knights were downed 55-31.
Still waiting on the first win, Henryetta’s girls have come close a couple of times in the short 2017 part of the season. They lost a heart-breaking 38-44 match the Haskell and fell by six points, 38-32 to Oktaha. So far this year, the lady Knights have scored 118 points and given up 193. The biggest loss has been to Stigler, 56-17.
The HHS boys have come close to posting in the win columns several times this year. They fell by three, 60-57 to Stigler and five, 64-59 to Bristow. Both games saw the Knights have problems on the free throw line missing over 10 shots in both games.
Starting Thursday, Jan. 4, the Lady Knights open their home tournament with Bristow. Gametime is 1 p.m. The HHS Knights will be playing Wilburton in the second game of the tournament starting at 2:30.
Winners of those games will go on to lay Friday with the champions to be decided Saturday.
Also in the tournament will be Okmulgee, Meeker, Holland Hall and Poteau.
