Henryetta’s Main Street is lined with buildings that were born at the start of the 20th Century.
main streetOver the years the looks have changed with new awnings and more modern coverings hiding the original brick facings.
That look will be brought back through a partnership with the chamber of commerce and OSUIT.
A “Main Street Vision,” digital 3D rendering will be compiled by OSUIT students in an effort to make downtown Henryetta more appealing to tourists and local residents.
chamber executive director Roy Madden met with Johnathon Goswick, OSUIT 3D program instructor and students to go over the plans.
“Our objective is to develop a marketing product to enhance the Main Street business environment, make it more inviting as well as improve lighting and appeal to multiple generations,” said Madden.
He pointed out new business development on the east end of town, coupled with the availability of retail opportunities at the west exit of I-40 means the downtown area needs to have a plan to attract people there. “Henryetta’s location at the cross roads of I-40 and the Indian Nation Turnpike needs to be maximized and this is just one component to that end.”osuit crew
“This is going to take us some time to complete the project,” he said. “However, it can be a significant planning tool for Henryetta.”
Madden pointed out to make it work completely, city officials, community members and building owners will need to participate. “Other communities have been successful implementing similar actions.”
