Volunteers were busy Saturday morning filling up 125 packets of food that went to needy veterans.  The "Feed the Vet" program was held conjointly by the Henryetta Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Friday morning's distribution at the First United Methodist Church in Henryetta was the first with another planned June 1. According to VFW Post Commander Bill Goodner, “Anyone who honorably served in the military is eligible. That includes surviving spouses and their families.”
The food baskets will consist of vegetables canned food bread or crackers, fruit and juice or soda. Veterans in Henryetta and the surrounding area were the recipients.
Goodner said anyone who knows of families in need should contact him, mayor Jennifer Clason, Donnie McKay, Judy McElhanon, Bruce Jones, Ron Casey or the Free lance.
