hill fire

A controlled burn got away and quickly spread through tall, dry grass Wednesday afternoon. The fire was just east of Henryetta around 5 p.m. and was extinguished before it could threaten any structures. Fire chief David Bullard said the gusty winds over the past few days have dried out a lot of pastures and warned anyone burning to take extra care to control the fires. "The grass may be dry but there is still a lot of moisture in the ground and that can result in fire trucks becoming stuck if we have to get out in those fields," he said.
