Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held Friday afternoon at Hillcrest Hospital in Henryetta starting a $3.9 million expansion project that will change the looks of part of the facility.
Work will completely reconfigure the southwest quadrant of the hospital and expand the existing ER capacity by 60 percent. It will start later this month and should be completed in 14 months.
“Emergency health care services are vital to a community, particularly in a rural setting,” said Dee Renshaw, chief executive officer of Hillcrest Hospital Henryetta. “When seconds can impact a patient’s long-term outcomes, it’s critical to access care quickly. We are very excited about this emergency department expansion as it will allow us to serve even more members of our community.”
The expansion is a continuation of the hospital’s commitment to providing exceptional, compassionate care to Henryetta residents. In 2017, Hillcrest Hospital Henryetta secured two Ysio Max digital X-ray machines, bringing the latest in radiologic technology to the hospital. These new X-ray machines offer patients time savings, reduced radiation exposure and clearer radiologic images.
The number of patients seeking emergency care has grown over the last several years, making the expansion project a timely addition. In 2017, the emergency department at Hillcrest Hospital Henryetta served nearly 9,000 patients.
The partnership between Hillcrest and Henryetta has been a successful collaboration for over 20 years. Hillcrest HealthCare System employs seven health care providers in Henryetta and Okemah and continues to make investments in the Henryetta facility, people and equipment. The Henryetta Hospital Authority has also made substantial investments in the hospital including the addition of a helicopter service in partnership with Air Evac, remodel of the Specialty Clinic and expansion of the Oklahoma Heart Institute clinic.
