An 18-year-old Morris resident died in a two vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon northeast of Okmulgee.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Clayton L. Smith, 18, was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Ryan Smith, 18, Henryetta. The pickup was said to have been going westbound on Gun Club Road when it collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Express van driven by Stephen Carter, 55, Holdenville that was going south on SH 52.
The OHP said the pickup was struck on the passenger side by the van, ruling the pickup and partially ejecting Smith. He was pinned under the truck until he could be freed by emergency personnel.
The Henryetta driver was taken to a Tulsa hospital for treatment of head, arm, leg and internal injuries. He was admitted in critical condition. another passenger in the truck, Alexander Workman, 18, also of Morris, and the van driver were taken to a Tulsa hospital for internal injuries.
