The Knights brought home third place wins following the state tennis tournament this past weekend.
Both the boys 1 and 2 doubles teams made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out of contention.
In the 1 doubles two-day contest, Jordan Knox and Colton Wion started out with back to back 6-3 wins over Wagoner then sent Pauls Valley packing with 6-3 and 6-4 wins to put them into the semi-finals.
That had them running into Ada’s Siegle and Swopes losing 6-1 and 7-5. Going for third place, Knox and Wion went three sets, losing the first 2-6 but coming back with 6-1 and 6-4 wins over Oologah-Talaha.
The HHS senior 2 doubles team of Jarett Day and Tyger Freeman started out strong with their 6-0 and 6-1 win over Pauls Valley then sent state tournament favored Gibbs and Smith from Crossings Christian packing with 6-2 and 6-1 wins.
They ran into trouble in the semi-finals losing 6-1 and 7-5 to Grove leading the HHS boys into the third place brackets.
That started with a close 7-6 win but was followed by 6-2 over Holland Hall for the third place spot.
The only singles contest for Henryetta started with Keaton Lollis in 1 singles. He lost 6-7, 6-1 and 6-2 to Max Moody from Metro Christian. That threw him into the consolation rounds but a loss to Harrah 6-2 and 6-1 ended his state appearance.
“We did well,” said coach Dustin Mosco. “Overall, we took sixth place as a team and I am proud of the way we played. There could have been some better breaks but we ran into some stiff competition.”
Both the 1 and 2 doubles teams from Ada were the state champions for 2018.
