The Henryetta library summer reading program got off to a lilting start Monday as youngsters learned the history of music and even got to play and sing along.
Lyle Stogner was the guest speaker at the civic center. Starting off with the history of music, he told the children about different musical instruments and even gave them some background into each.
He taught the kids songs such as Puff the Magic Dragon, B-I-N-G-O, and a song about different animals. He also told the kids the story or legend of the songs that they sang. It was time for some hands-on experience as he let the children play some instruments and sing along with him.
The program is held each Monday at the civic center from 1:30 to 2:30 for the next five weeks. There is no charge and all area children are invited to attend.
