Once again sales tax collections in Henryetta were up.
The latest report showed the city received $232,759.33, a gain of $15,194 from last year.
“I think more and more people are realizing the importance of shopping at home,” said mayor Jennifer Clason. The bulk of the city’s operating budget comes from sales tax revenue.
The latest return reflects May and mid-June sales. It is part of $159,632,406 distributed statewide this month.
This was the eighth consecutive month that the city enjoyed increases in sales taxes. A year ago, only two out of the 12 months reflected increases in sales tax returns.
This month numbers also contain the one-third county sales tax that was passed by voters last spring.
Okmulgee County coffers swelled to the tune of $322,907.71, That was a gain of $25,379 from the 2017 distribution.
While Henryetta’s numbers were in the plus column, Dewar collections were down $1,100 for the month. This July, Dewar received $10,444 compared with $11,513 a year ago.
