W.L. Smith, a longtime resident of Weleetka, died July 17, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born July 10, 1936 in Searcy, Ark., to Walter and Mable (Cox) Smith. W.L. served as the Weleetka High School principal and coached for 20 years. After retiring he went to work as the Vice president of the Weleetka Bank. He and his wife Mary Lou were married Dec. 22, 1954 and were members of the Weleetka First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Jim and Ronnie Smith and a sister Betty Marlow.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of the home; son: Mike Smith of Weleetka; grandsons: Cole Smith of Broken Arrow and Chase Smith of Weleetka; great grandchildren: Payton and Tucker Smith of Broken Arrow; sisters: Billie Copeland of Shawnee, Patty Harris of Savanna and Katie Graham of Carlsbad, NM
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Weleetka First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the Weleetka High School Girls Softball Team in Memory of WL Smith.
