Jimmy O. Broadbent, a longtime resident of Henryetta, died Aug. 10, 2018 in Tulsa at the age of 82. Jimmy was born July 14, 1936 in Burns Flat, Okla., to Ralph Broadbent and Martha Simons Broadbent.
He grew up in Borger, Texas and moved to Oklahoma City at age 9. He attended Oklahoma City Public Schools and graduated from Southeast High School in Oklahoma City. During his high school years, Jimmy met the love of his life while working at a root beer stand in Oklahoma City. He married Jimmie Bowling July 2, 1955 in Blanchard. He worked at a service station in Oklahoma City for approximately 10 years. Jimmy joined the US Army and faithfully served for six years during the Korean conflict. After his honorable discharge from the US Army, he returned to Blanchard briefly and later moved to Dustin. Jimmy worked for a number of years with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority before his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a faithful member of the Henryetta Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Charles Broadbent; a brother, Fred Broadbent; a sister, Sue Broadbent; a brother, James Berry; a sister, Romajune Dawson; an adoptive mother, Elizabeth Berry; an adoptive father, James Berry, Sr.; a sister, Bonnie Broadbent Guinn; and a daughter, Martha Elizabeth Rainville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jimmie Broadbent of the home; four children: Georgiana Marie Spearman of Enid, Pamely Joyce Harper and husband Clifton of Mangum, Jimmy O. Broadbent Jr. and wife Susan of Henryetta, and Tracie Grall and husband Josh of Bentonville, Arl.; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Broadbent of Healdton; by numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family; and by many good friends.
Viewing for Jimmy will be held Aug. 13, 2018 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service. The family will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. to meet and greet guests.
A funeral for Jimmy is set for Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Henryetta, with Rex Walcher officiating. A Masonic service will be provided by the Henryetta Masonic Lodge. Interment will follow immediately at Dustin Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
Pallbearers will be Chris Converse, Josh Grall, Sloane Spearman, Christopher Harper, Clilfton Harper, and Terry Bryant. Honorary bearers will be Ted Bryant, Duane Bryant, Karl Spearman, and John Eddy.
