Henryetta students will have more to work with in the classrooms this year thanks to over $12,000 in grants awarded to teachers.
The annual grants come from the Henryetta Education Foundation and range from nearly $400 to almost $3,000. Teachers submitted their requests at the start of school and those applications were sent off to educators from out of the area to be judged.
Earning grants this year were: Cody Dawson, agricultural education; Christle Wells, turning Stem to Steam; Tarra Christy, sight-word curriculum; Ashley Burton and Lori Freeman, creative science; Ginny Holder, entomology adventure, a classrom laboratory; Lori Mann and Vanessa Danker, eighth grade star math shared with sixth and seventh grade; Angela Glover, literacy project; Autumn Smith, diving into daily 5; Pamela J. Palmer, JMG club; Monica Brown and Debbie Wion, increasing literacy levels; Kelly James and Sandy Gaither, blast off into space; and Laura Goodner, engaged in physical activity.
The awards have been made from the Foundation for nearly 20 years.
