Four bids were opened Thursday afternoon to repair a years-long water leak on the line that supplies water to the storage tank at the top of Fourth Street hill. The bids, ranging from $232,150 to $514,350, were read at a special city council meeting and are going to be reviewed before the project is awarded. According to Butler Engineering, the work calls for placing a new line to the water tank, completely bypassing the several decades old line. |
| That old line was deemed unrepairable because of the age and asbestos used in the original construction. Butler Engineering estimated the cost would be $232,515.91. The lowest bid came from M&S Construction in Haskell at $232,150. second lowest was Ken's Plumbing from panama, Okla, at $321,859. Scott Wallach Company in Okmulgee bid the job at $474,265 while Goins Industries from Joplin, Missouri submitted a bid of $514,350. Butler Engineering will present a report on the bids at the Jan. 21 council meeting. The water leak has damaged the roadbed along Merrick and residents along the water line right of way have complained for several years that the ground has ben washing down the hill. |
