There was a nice holiday bonus for the city of Henryetta as the state passed out sales tax checks.
For the 13th consecutive month, the sales tax distribution for Henryetta showed an increase and put the calendar year total well ahead of the total from 2017.
Henryetta received $223,976 this month compared with $211,509 last December. That wrapped up the calendar year receipts at $2,712,391 compared with $2,561,280 a year ago.
This 12-month total was the best in the past 13 years and beat the then-record of $2,688, 779 set in 2016.
The city’s use tax receipts for December amounted to $21,093, a $7,070 gain from a year ago and also set a new record for a 12-month use tax total of $192,396.
Okmulgee’s city government received $544,459 this month compared with $495,270 for a gain of $49,189.
At the same time, the Okmulgee County share of sales tax monies in December amounted to $388,857, a gain of $102,886 from a year ago.
For the second consecutive month and fourth time in 2018, Dewar showed an increase in sales tax collections. The December check to the town amounted to $9,985 compared with $9,063 a year ago.
The December distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from October business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from October 16th to October 31st and estimated sales from November 1 to November 15.
The disbursement of $153,384,772 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $9,079,052 from the $144,305,720 distributed to the cities and towns in December last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $20,854,559.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $27,726,490 sales tax disbursement and a $4,075,751 use tax disbursement.
