The new year started off giving motorists problems as a spate of icy weather struck Wednesday morning.
Drivers reported slick spots on bridges and overpasses throughout the area with several vehicles sliding off the pavement.
This incident on US 75 just north of Henryetta blocked one lane of traffic for a short time and, up the road between Henryetta and Okmulgee, several other vehicles ran into trouble.
This mishap was the first reported in 2019 but OHP troopers and EMS were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash west of Henryetta on I-40 shortly before midnight Dec. 31. No injuries were reported in that crash that blocked a lane of roadway for several hours.
Earlier in the day Dec. 31, an Okemah woman died in a single-vehicle crash on SH 56 about three miles north of Okemah.
According to the OHP, Tonya Franklin White, 45, was the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu that rann off the highway then rolled over two times. She was thrown from the vehicle.
