Former Henryetta high school coach Keith Furer is going to be joining an elite group January 12.
keith furerFurer will be inducted into the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at Tulsa during special ceremonies.
A Morris high school graduate, Furer has been a coach for 22 years and racked up a record of 679 wins and only 195 losses. Along the way, his teams took home 22 district championships, nine regional wins, a state runner up in 2002 and capped it off the next year with a state championship trophy.
Furer, the husband of HHS principal Kelly Furer and father of Brooklyn and Cade Furer, first started coaching at Butner school in 1992. He was there for seven years then came to Henryetta to take the Knights to the state tournament.
After 15 years here, he moved to Beggs for two years as an assistant baseball coach and now is the assistant coach at Dewar.
The Hall of Fame stated in 1967 with Kenneth Hull from Holdenville and John Prior from Oklahoma City Capitol Hill as the first inductees.
Ten years later, Wiley Ryal became the first Henryettan to join the ranks.
The induction ceremony and banquet will wrap up the annual coaches winter clinic and Oral Roberts University. It will be held at the CityPlex Tower Saturday night.
