Wilda Neoma Gulley, a resident of rural Okmulgee, died Jan. 7, 2019 at her home at the age of 81. She was born Sept. 13, 1937 in Poteau to Ike Madison Kellogg and Goldie McKenneth (Newton) Kellogg.
She married the love of her life, George Raymond Gulley, Sr., Oct. 18, 1954 in Stigler, Oklahoma. They celebrated 64 years of marriage and to this union two children were born, George Raymond Jr. and Neoma Sue.
Wilda, or Midget as she was often called, worked as a nurses aide at the Henryetta Hospital for Dr. Carlton Smith. Along with Dr. Smith's encouragement, she decided to get her GED and go to nursing school for her LPN degree. Along with her sister Lucille they set out to get their nursing degrees and Wilda graduated with a 4.0 grade average all the while working as a Nurses Aide at Henryetta Hospital and raising a family. She graduated in May of 1974 with the very first LPN Nursing Class at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee. After the closing of Dr. Smith's Henryetta Hospital, Wilda began nursing at the new Henryetta Medical Center. In addition to Dr. Smith, she worked very closely with Dr. Brent Davis during her nursing career. From there she worked for several years at Country Style Home Health. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Goldie Kellogg, four sisters: Mildred Smith, Lucille VanMeter, Helen Griffith and Charlotte Greenwood, also by three brothers: Isaac Kellogg, Truman Kellogg and Seth Kellogg.
She is survived by her husband George Raymond Gulley, Sr. of the home; son, George Raymond Gulley, Jr. and wife Melody of Henryetta; daughter, Neoma Sue Raby and husband Don of Okmulgee; four grandchildren: Sarah Madewell and husband Trent, George Raymond Gulley, III, Sue Ann Vaughan and husband Terron, and Jeremy Ross Raby and Jessica Howe; six great grandchildren: Madison Madewell, Dillon Madewell, Hannah Madewell, Hallie Madewell, Ella Grace Vaughan, and Gunner Ross Vaughan, also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 from 3 until 8 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 6. until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be, Don Raby, Jeremy Raby, Terron Vaughan, Ray Gulley, Trent Madwell, and Travis Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Smith, Dr. Brent Davis, George Gulley, Jr. Robert Greenwood, Audie Cole, Brad Foster and Tammy Blake.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Michael Vanmeter officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction and care of Integrity Funeral Service.
