spelling bee winners

Ethan Gold was the top speller Friday morning as the annual Henryetta elementary spelling bee concluded.
Gold was able to spell strident to take first place. Second place honors went to Zander Rempe. Both are fifth grade students.
The field of 16 students was eliminated through a series of words that went through 17 rounds at the high school auditorium. Both Gold and Rempe will be representing Henryetta at the district spelling bee in Muskogee later this spring.
Placing third was Baylor Thompson, also a fifth grader.
The students made the local finals through a spell-off in their individual classrooms.
Participating in the spelling bee were: Fourth grade: Brylee Smith, Jeffery Webster, Aubrey Macaluso, Reece Harjo, Brooke Bailey, Kaydence Mann, Jocee Putman and Matthew Vincent.
Fifth grade spellers were: Zander Rempe, Mia McCaroll, Denver Oliver, Rider Sperry, Baylor Thompson, Braylee Dexter, Ethan Gold and Noah Huckabay.
