County residents have until Friday, March 8 to register to vote for the upcoming April 2 Board of Education General Election for the Haskell Public Schools, Weleetka Public Schools and for Tulsa Tech Center. There will also be a Municipal General Election, April 2 for the City of Beggs and City of Henryetta for city council, and the City of Okmulgee will have a Special Election for a proposition.
Ashley Carnes, county election board secretary, said residents who aren’t registered or need to change their voter registration may apply by filling out and mailing an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application form in time for it to be postmarked no later than midnight Friday, March 8.
“Voters may also come by the County Election Board office to complete an application,” she added. “The County Election Board responds in writing to every person who submits an application for voter registration. The response is either a voter identification card listing the new voter's precinct number and polling place location, or a letter that explains the reason or reasons the application for voter registration was not approved.”
Sample ballots for the April election are available now in the County Election Board office. They area also available online at the State Election Board website, www.ok.gov/elections.
“The State Election Board has a very helpful tool which allows voters to verify their party affiliation, locate their polling location, track their absentee ballot and find early voting hours.”
Voters may vote early Absentee In-Person at the Okmulgee County Election Board office located in the Okmulgee County Courthouse, Room 102 on Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. On election day April 2, voters will vote at their polling place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
