Henryetta’s Knight Brigade band members were recognized Thursday morning by the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
A citation from the House was read and presented to band director Alan Montgomery by Rep. Scott Fetgatter as the legislators started their morning deliberations.
The citation recognizes the band’s invitation to participate in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. this coming May.
citationIn part, the citation reads:
“Whereas, Henryetta High School Knight Brigade Band students have received the prestigious honor for the second time in six year to march in the National Memorial Day parade at our nation’s Capital on Historic Constitution Avenue in Washing, D.C, on May 27, 2019 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Whereas, Henryetta High school Knight Brigade Band students have demonstrated extreme dedication to instrumental music and have succeeded as a result of their hard work and commitment under the dedication of band director Alan Montgomery.
Whereas, Henryetta High School Knight Brigade Band students are a shining example of a bright future, as Oklahoma’s young people are the states greatest resource and hold in the herts and minds of all. And Oklahoma House of Representatives take great pride in recognizing Henryetta High School Knight Brigade band students for their accomplishments.”
Montgomery was on the podium with Fegatter and State Rep. Logan Phillips as the citation was read. In front on the floor were band members Kenna Najera, Maddie Walters, Bailey Davis, Quinton Story, Jared Montgomery and Taylor Martinez.
