The consolation victory at the Henryetta tournament slipped away from the HHS Lady Knights when the Metro Christian Lady Patriots broke free from a tie to win 43-40.
Henryetta had led throughout the entire game but not by much. The lady Knights were ahead 6-4 at the end of the first quarter then enjoyed an eight point advantage, 24-1 at the half.
Metro started inching up on the board, scoring 12 points in the third quarter compared with 11 for the lady Knights.
Finally the score stood at 38-38 with two minutes left in the game. Metro broke the tie with a free throw then connected with a two pointer and two free throws.
Aundrea Hamric sank a pair of free throws then tried a long shot at the buzzer than went wide.
During the night she had 11 points, seven of them coming from the free throw line out of 10 tries.
Hanna Gouge led the scoring the the lady Knights with 16 points, followed by Mykaela Wallace, Kyra Najera and Maci Webb all with two each.
