Susan Barnett and Dorothy Burden were hostesses for the April meeting of the Okemah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Held at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah, tables were beautifully decorated with a yellow tulip centerpiece and spring décor.
april darIn the absence of Registrar Rebecca Hold, Vice Regent Sheldon Starr led the opening ritual, flag salute, The American’s Creed, the Preamble to the Constitution, and the National Anthem.
The chapter was delighted to welcome as guests Kiamichi District Director, Dana Boyd, and Ardmore chapter Regent Royce Groeschel both from Ardmore. The two presented a most interesting and informative program giving members ideas on visiting schools and presenting students with flags and flag facts.
Hostesses Barnett and Burdon conducted the drawing for the door prizes which were won by Dana Boyd, Velda Bradley, Dorothy Haynes, and Ann Jackson.
The next meeting will be Tuesday May 28 in the meeting room at Pepino’s Restaurant in Okemah.
June Yahola will present the program, “A Salute to American History.”
The meeting was adjourned by Vice Regent Starr, and the following were in attendance: Ann Jackson, Dorothy Haynes, Thelma Shields, Velda Bradley, Angela Polk, Sheldon Starr, Dorothy Burden, Susan Barnett, Judith Drennan, June Yahola, Geneva Bertges and guests Dana Pruitt Boyd and Royce Groeschel.
