tennis prosThe calendar has not stopped Henryettans Mark Milligan and Dennis Morris from doing what they love.
The two Hens who made a name for themselves on the tennis courts on West Main were looking for a national championship this past weekend.
Even though they won their opening matches, they were unable to continue in the men’s 65 doubles portion of the National Senior Games at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In the opening match for men 65 years of age, Milligan and Morris downed a Virginia team 8-5. That set them up to face a pair of Wisconsin netsters and the Henryettans were the winners.
In the quarterfinals, Morris and Milligan lost to the eventual tournament runner up team. In the playoff quest for fifth to eighth place, Milligan and Dennis won their next match against a tough Alabama team as they trailed 2-6 in an eight-game pro set then fought back to win 9-7. That moved them into a playoff for fifth place but the pair defaulted and took sixth place.
The annual tournament saw some 800 participants in all divisions across the United States participating.
