Henryetta high school alum Alissa Taylor will be taking on a new role this month as she heads up the Bacone College Lady Warriors softball team. The Muskogee college officially named her as the softball program head coach Wednesday.
Taylor, the daughter of Lucas Taylor and Stefanie Norman, graduated from Henryetta in 2014 and made her mark in high school and college softball.alissa taylor
At Henryetta, she was a member of the Lady Knights team that went to state three times. She was also named to the 2017 All-Great American Conference first team while at East Central University in Ada.
“I am looking forward to building up the new program at Bacone,” Taylor said this week. “The team struggled a little bit last season but we have twice as many girls signed up this year.”
The Lady Warriors will be returning most of their players from last year. The team will be playing in the A.I.I. (Association of independent institutions). That organization is composed of educational institutions who are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics but does not belong to an NAIA-affiliated conference.
Taylor said she is trying to get a fall schedule for Bacone but the regular fastpitch season will officially start in February.
