The Jim Shoulders Living Legends rodeo this year is going to be even brighter than before.
rodeo arenaChamber of Commerce board members approved $13,043 in new LED lighting for the arena. Those lights will replace the sodium bulbs that have been in place for over 7 years.
“This will give us the ability to have instant-off, instant-on lighting as well as improving the illumination throughout the arena,” said rodeo committee chairman Mark Hiatt.
He explained the upgrade will be in place in time for the rodeo this year and will compliment the new rodeo sanction by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).
That improvement accompanies the recently-installed new bucking chutes that were placed in late July.
The PRCA designation will include the Henryetta rodeo among those what association cowboys can use to advance to the National Finals Rodeo later this year. Hiatt said some of the top NFR hopefuls in all events are expected to perform during the two nights of the rodeo Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Advance discount tickets to the rodeo are available at Paul’s Western Store, Rustler's BBQ, Hiatt Window and Glass, Jiffy Mart and Coalton Shavings and Feed.
Following the rodeo a live music concert by Rustler's Productions featuring Hunter Thomas will be held. Anyone who purchases a rodeo ticket can get $2 off the concert ticket price.
