SGM (ret) Robert Dale Nuckolls, a former Dewar resident, died Sept. 10, 2019 at his home in Fletcher, Okla., at the age of 65.
Dale was born arch 4, 1954 in Henryetta to Robert and Patsy (Stidman) Nuckolls. He grew up in Dewar where he attended school, graduating in 1972. He then joined the United States Army May 17, 1972 in Oklahoma City and married Stephanie Kay Lunsford Feb. 9, 1979 in Lawton. They traveled all over the world while Dale was defending our country. He received many awards and medals including the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal, (4th Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, (4th Award), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, and Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Pistol Bar.
Dale retired from the army Dec. 31, 1999. In October 27, 2001, he began his career with the Duncan Postal Service and worked for 17 years as a mail carrier until his retirement in March, 2019. He was also a member of Denton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy Britt and Pam Lee; and his brother, Roger Nuckolls.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Stephanie Kay Nuckolls, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law Steven and Ashley Nuckolls, of Lawton; grandchildren: Kobe Reimer, Madison Reimer, Jacob Reimer, Dally Nuckolls, and Steven Nuckolls, Jr.
There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny El Kouri, pastor of Word Alive Church officiating.
