Barton Allen Williams Sr., a resident of Henryetta, died Oct. 11, 2019 at his home in Henryetta at the age of 75. He was born July 8, 1944 in Weleetka to Irvin Annual Williams and Alice Tihen (Wesley) Williams.
He was a combat veteran serving in the Vietnam war in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division (All American), 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" and 173rd Airborne Brigade "Sky Soldiers" known as the "Herd" in Vietnam.
Barton was honored along with his unit the 173rd with a presidential unit citation for its heroic actions during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Billy Williams and Bobby Williams.
Barton is survived by his wife, Rita Williams of the home; son, Shawn Allen Williams of the home; three sisters: Jewell Berry of Hanna, Clemma Rose Luellen and husband Larry of Henryetta, and Carolyn "Johnnie" Hammontree of Eufaula; five grandchildren; Alaysia Williams, Mehenwa Williams, Yahv Williams, Tepoyv (Bo) Williams and Tihen Williams; great grandson, Takoda "Big Boy" Hicks, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A wake service is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14, 2019 from 6to 8 p.m. at Integrity Chapel.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Wesley Berry, officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
