Area residents can get free help with their taxes through a program offered by the AARP Foundation.
Every Wednesday from Feb. 5 through April 8, AARP counselors, Ashley Morris and Amber Pippin, will be at The Briefcase at 313 West Main from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help with taxes.tax people
“You do not have to be a member of AARP to get your taxes done,” said Pippin.
Anyone wishing to receive help should bring al of their income forms (W-2; interest; dividend; capital gains/losses; unemployment compensation, pensions and other retirement income, social security benefits and other income statements.
Also required is a picture ID as well as social security card for all the members of their family and last year’s tax return.
“We will do most credits, such as earned income tax credit, education credits, child/additional child credit and credit for other dependents, dependent care credit, premium tax credit, and retirement savings credit,” Pippin added.
