For the third time, the Sound of Music will be echoing across the hills of Tulledega.
Henryetta high school students will be on stage for the Tony Award winning musical that first opened on Broadway in 1959.
Featuring music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Henryetta production will be held Feb. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. with a matinee Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
All performances will be the HHS Alice Ghostley auditorium.
Drama instructor Justin Been said tickets are now on sale with a special offering for the Friday night opening.
A pre-show dinner will be held at the school cafeteria catered by McAlester-based Pete’s Place.
Tickets to the dinner and the performance that evening are $20 for adults and $15 for students. Dinner only tickets are $12 for both adults and students.
The musical was first performed in Henryetta 50 years ago and was the first performance given by any high school in Oklahoma. A second performance was nearly 30 years ago.
It is the story of the Trapp Family Singers, an Austrian family who fled that country to escape the Nazi government.
“This is a musical that all ages will enjoy and many are familiar with the music,” Been said. “We have a number of students from the high school and elementary who are part of the cast.”
