Days after the storm, many parts of the Henryetta area and Okmulgee County are still under water.
Tuesday morning, Okmulgee County commissioners passed a resolution designating the entire county as a disaster area. That sets the stage for inclusion in the statewide disaster declaration issued last week by Gov. Mary Fallin.
"We are still assessing the damage and trying to put a dollar amount to it," said county Emergency Management Director Tim Creighton. He urged anyone who has suffered any kind of damage to home, businesses or other property to contact him.
Because more storms are forecast in the coming days, Creighton said it is imperative that people take care if they have to drive around the county.
"A lot of the streams have already gone back down but there are places where water is still over the roadways. At the same time, there are some washed out culverts and gullies that can be over six feet deep."
"We were fortunate with no one injured or killed in this storm."
