Dee (Dessie) Foster was born in Morris Sept. 18, 1929 to Rev. William Curtis and Mattie (Hoobler) Whisman. She died July 29, 2020 in Morris at the age of 90.
Dee graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1947. She married Garland Ray (Peanut) Foster March 22, 1947 in Bristow. They made their home in Morris and were married for 51 years before he preceded her in death in 1998.
Dee worked for many years as typesetter for newspapers in Okmulgee and Muskogee and retired from the Tulsa World after 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morris.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Whisman sisters (Bertha Brill, Thelma Burnett, Rita Flanary, Ruby Vaughn, Myrtle Lee Pearson and her twin sister Jeanne Allbritton) and by her brothers (Hiram, Floyd, John, Jess and Wiley).
She is survived by her sons: Garland Ray Foster Jr. and wife Shawn of Morris and her son Mike Foster also of Morris; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; also is survived by a large host of loving nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday Aug. 1, 2020 at the Morris First Baptist Church officiated by pastor Ray Moffeit and assisted by Rev. Larry Brill. Services are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
Nephews and grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
A separate private family interment will occur at 10 a.m. Monday Aug. 3 at the Morris Cemetery.
