Eva Athalene (Tippin) Pitts, a resident of Okmulgee, died Oct. 8, 2020 in Okmulgee at the age of 89. She was born Oct. 27, 1931 to Guy Tippin and Hazel (Yarberry) Tippin in Hugoton, Kans.
Eva’s family moved to the Wetumka area in her childhood. She graduated from Moss School. Shortly thereafter she married her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Pitts. Four children were born to their union. Kenneth worked for Phillips and, for a time, that work took them to Borger, Texas. They returned after Kenneth was able to transfer to Okmulgee, where Eva resided with her family for the rest of their days. She was a member of the Henryetta First Church of the Nazarene.
Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; by her parents, Guy and Hazel Tippin; and by her brother, Tommy Tippin.
She is survived by her four children: sons, Larry Pitts and Gary Pitts; daughters; Nancy Martin and Donna Smith; sister, Norma Driskell, and husband James; four grandchildren:, Cory Pitts and wife, Leetha, Kenny Pitts, Heather Walters and husband, Jesse, and Andy Smith and wife, Ashley; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 11 at Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home from 12 until 8 p.m., with family calling hours beginning at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 12 at 2:00pm at the First Church of the Nazarene in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Rev. Tim Cole and Rev. Lowell Churchill will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jesse Walters, Slick Henderson, Jesse Leach, Marcus Whitworth, Jeff Williamson, and Kathen Funburg. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ty Walters, Larry Kennedy, Sammy Johnson, and David Evans. Interment will follow at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka and Weleetka.
