Smoldering hay bales and charred pasture was left in the wake of a grass fire Sunday. The blaze broke out along the New Lake Road and, due to windy conditions, quickly swept across several hundred acres of pasture. Fire crews from Henryetta, Dewar, Plainview and Salem were called to battle the blaze that proved difficult to reach in the thick, woody reaches. No homes were damaged. This was the second large fire of the weekend. A trash fire Saturday got out of control and caused damage to some 30 acres before it could be contianed.
