After seven consecutive months of increases, the Henryetta sales tax check reported a loss this month.
Henryetta received $238,176.77 for the opening month of 2021, a $20,188 drop from the same time a year ago. The figures represented primarily November business.
Easing that loss somewhat was the $6,667 increase in the city’s share of use tax monies. This month Henryetta received $32,303, a gain from the $25,635 last year. When 2020 ended, Henryetta had received a total of $322,329 in use tax revenue, up from the $276,199 the year before.
At the close of 2020, Henryetta finished up the year with $2,971,486, a gain of $155,272 from the previous year.
Around the area, Dewar and Okmulgee posted the largest gains.
Dewar received $21,383, a gain of $12,039; Okmulgee picked up a check for $60,915, a gain of $60,241; Beggs received $44,339 for a $9,800 increase; Morris received $22,346, a gain of $4,400 and Weleetka received $17,961, up from $13,634 a year ago.
Statewide, $164,181,289 in sales tax collections were returned reflecting an increase of $4,189,918 from the $159,991,371 distributed to the cities and towns in January last year.
