Early voting begins Thursday, April 1 for voters in Okmulgee County for the Board of Education General Election and Municipal General Election. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, April 6, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board. Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary, Ashley Carnes, said early voting is open to all voters.
“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted through the State Election Board—from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines,” Carnes said.
Early voting is available Thursday, April 1 and Friday April 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee County Courthouse located at 314 W. 7th Street Room 102 in Okmulgee. Carnes reminds voters that early voting is not available at polling locations.
She said there is one change that will affect voters in the Beggs Public School district and vote at the county fair grounds. “Those voters must vote early in person or request an absentee ballot for the April 6, election.” Beggs Public Schools requested to close The fair grounds polling site due to the precinct containing fewer than 100 voters who reside in the Beggs Public School district. Closed precinct letters were mailed to each of the 24 voters eligible to vote in this election.
