There’s a new service designed to help Okmulgee County residents in the event of an emergency.
Smart911 is replacing the Code Red service that helps emergency responders get to the people who need help immediately.
County Emergency Management director Tim Creighton said the free service saves critical time in an emergency and has proven to save lives nationwide.
Among the benefits of Smart911 are:

  • create a Safety Profile for your household that includes information in the event of an emergency.
  • provides 911 with the key information to allow the 911operator to send the right response team to the right location with the right information; for instance if you are diabetic, have a heart condition, allergies, cancer, aneurism, etc.
  • allows you to link both home and work addresses to mobile phones.
  • allows you to choose the emergency situation you want to be notified about and your choice of location. Mobile phones do not give the operator the address of your emergency, with Smart911, they will have the address automatically.
  • let you register your pets that are in the household, vehicle details and emergency contacts can be provided in the Safety Profile.
SPEAK FOR YOU when you are unable to do so.
  • receive the highest priority National Weather Service Alerts including tornado watches and warnings, flash flood warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings based on your real-time location.

He said all information is private and will be only sent to the 911 operator when an emergency call is placed.
