A cold second quarter and missed free throws wound up giving Kellyville the 56-47 win against Henryetta in the consolation finals.
The Knights outscored the Ponies in the first and fourth quarters but were only able to put six on the board in the second while Kellyville used a trio of threes to gain the upper hand with 14 points.
Henryetta made only seven 16 free throws and the Ponies hit 11 of 16
HHS senior Alex Hudson had 18 points for the game with brother Nick adding 12. Austin Palmer contributed nine with Phillip Rice scoring four and Jordan Short adding in two.
The Knights went into the consolation finals after they beat off a fourth quarter attack by the Eufaula Ironheads.
Henryetta won that contest, 47-43 scoring in double digits in the first three periods. It was the fourth quarter that had the Knight fans on their feet. Only three points separated the two schools in the final seconds when Jordan Osterdock hit the second of two free throw shots to put the Knights up by four.
Henryetta led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter then 22-13 at the half. Going into the final period, the Knights continued their defensive work, allowing only nine while picking up 10 of their own. It was the fourth quarter that saw the Ironheads attack with four three-point goals cutting down the Henryetta advantage and threatening to take the win.
