Henryetta had a third place finisher in the girls 145-pound state wrestling tournament.
HHS senior Madison Byroads won a 12-9 major decision to claim the title defeating the same girl that sent her to the consolation rounds.
Competing with a knee injury that had her wearing a brace when not on the mat, Byroads lost a 6-5 decision in her opening match against Carli Watson from Elgin. She followed that up with a pin in the first 48 seconds of her match against Madison Welch of Harrah then won a 9-2 decision over Yukon’s Jocelyn Noel.
In the meantime, Watson was knocked back into the consolation rounds after being pinned in her semi-final mach.
That set the stage for Byroads to dominate her third place contest and bring home another medal.
Byroads had won 24 of her matches and only lost two this year.
