It took Henryetta city council members less than 15 minutes to get business out of the way Tuesday night.
Approval was given to upgrade the E-911 system for the police department. Currently the city spends $5,304.83 each month. Jennifer Munholland said that is going to increase, “a thousand dollars or somewhere like that.”
She pointed out the city gets between $6,000 and $7,000 each month. The current city budget has $50,000 set aside for the program.
Also gaining approval was a request by John Howe to use the beach house at Nichols Park for the Moore Music Festival Oct. 8, 2022.
Munholland said the festival is a tribute to Clayton Moore, who died last July. He graduated from Henryetta high school in 1999 and was known for his guitar performances.
Council members voted to continue using Crawford and Associates as their financial consulting company for the coming fiscal year. Crawford prepares the annual budget and audit for the city.
The city will be spending $500 to rent a bounce house for youngsters to enjoy Cruise Knight next month. That event is scheduled for June 18.
After much discussion in April about a policy dealing with wrecker service, the issue was resolved through meetings with police chief Steve Norman and wrecker operators.
That policy calls for the various wrecker companies to have an application showing they are meeting all legal requirements and are on a rotation basis through the police department.
No action was needed by the council.
Councilor Michael Dickey said he was approached by several people wanting to put a flag pole at the caretaker’s house at Nichols Park.
He said that request was to be a part of special flag retirement ceremonies held by local Boy Scouts.
“We already have a flag at the park,” Munholland said. That flagpole was erected several years ago after the long-time pole was destroyed by a storm.
Because the request was not already on the agenda, no action was taken.
