Henryetta’s Lady Knights made their mark at the state tennis tournament with a 4A State Runner-up plaque after a couple of days of hard-fought tennis matches.
The 1 doubles team of Katie Davis and Kellyn Lollis won their first three matches then lost back to back sets in the finals for second place.
In the 2 doubles contest, Casi Bailey and Emma Thompson won their first two matches including a marathon encounter against Riverfield but lost their semi-final contest throwing them into a battle for third. They would lose out to Byng’s sister team and captured fourth.
Abbi Dodge posted back to back wins, 6-0, 6-2 in their opening match then won the second putting her in the semi-finals. Dodge would win that first set 6-1 but lost the next two, 6-2 and 6-1. She would take fourth after losing 6-3, 6-1.
That second place win coupled with those fourth place spots provided the Lady Knights with enough team points to edge out Oklahoma Christian School for second place in the state.
Henryetta was the only public school to be in the top seven spots in the state.
