NEW LIFE

Henryetta Chamber members are planning for visitors Labor Day weekend.
Speaking at the monthly chamber board meeting, Tammie Hiatt said several national sponsors are already lining up for the Jim Shoulders Living Legends rodeo. They include Wrangler, Resistol and Frontier Rodeo Coffee.
Hiatt said there are custom buckles for the Mutton Bustin' competition as well as barrel racing and all around.
That rodeo is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3 and 4.
Promoting the rodeo as well as Nichols Park was brought up with tourism chair Bruce Jones talking about the possibility of putting a billboard at the park. It would be designed to entice travelers to come to the park and watch the rodeo.
He suggested the billboard be placed by the fence separating the Indian Nation turnpike from the park. Jones said he talked with Oklahoma Department of Transportation personnel and they would have no problem with the location.
More investigating into how the signage would be constructed as well as costs will be held in the coming weeks.

Those signs would be fabricated by the same company that did the Jim Shoulders Monument now at Nichols Park. He said they would have two upright pillars with an oval sign hanging down that would show the chamber logo.
More research into proposed signage and costs will be held.
Chamber members welcomed the New Life Church as a new member. Ambassador chair Bruce Jones presented church pastor Cordell Hines with the membership certificate.
