The city of Henryetta is asking for help constructing nearly a mile of water line.
A request to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce has been sent asking for help covering the $618,424 cost. The breakdown of expenses include a HUD Community Development Block Grant amounting to $136,000, state Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant from the Eastern Oklahoma Development District for $136,000 and city picking up the remaining $346,424.
The project calls for some 5,012 feet of 10-inch water line and 580 feet of six-inch line. It will start at South Third and Ragan streets and run parallel to the railroad track to Trudgeon then northeast along C Street to Nelson Avenue then terminating at Gentry Avenue.
According to city officials the six-inch line will tie into the existing six-inch line on Main Street.
That work will replace some of the aged water lines that have been breaking and causing outages in recent weeks. In addition, water pressure is expected to increase with the new lines.
