Carrie Layman is the new reading tutor for Henryetta elementary school. She was hired Monday night following a short school board executive session. Also hired at the regular August meeting was Bunyan Johnson to be one of the bus drivers. He currently serves as a classroom teacher and basketball coach.
Board members accepted the resignation of Carlie Wheeler. She was hired in July as a third grade teacher.
A $1 per hour raise for all 16 cafeteria workers was approved as well as a $3,000 raise for school activity clerk Cynthia Layman.
Even though classes didn’t officially tart until Thursday, a number of parents and students were on hand for the Back to School Bash Sunday. “This was a good showing by everyone,” said middle school principal Jayme Matlock. She pointed out some 100 people participated int he prayer walk around the school buildings.
