A walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 9-9 knot and gave the Lady Knights the 10-9 win over Kellyville Thursday night.
Henryetta drew first blood with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. There were two outs on the Lady Knights when Alanie Hicks stole home followed by an RBI hit by Kinley Miller scoring Skylar Morris then a single by McKayla Greenhaw brought Chloe Swearingen home. Swearingen was a courtesy runner for Winter Beaver.
The Kellyville Ponies retaliated with five runs in the third using a series of walks and errors then added another in the fourth for the 6-3 lead.
A sacrifice out by Miller in the bottom of the fourth brought Henryetta a little closer letting Kassidy Lee score making it Kellyville 6, Henryetta 4.
Kellyville put three more runs in the fifth with a passed ball, error and steal but that would be the last time the Ponies would see home plate.
In the bottom of the fifth, Shelby Kilhoffer doubled then scored on a fly hit by Brooklyn Baughman.
The score tied up in the bottom of the sixth with a series of singled good enough for four RBIs. The big single of that frame went to Hicks who singled to right scoring McKayla Greenhaw and Kilhoffer making it a 9-9 contest.
In the seventh, Kellyville had a fly out, foul tip out and pop out to second.
The win came in Henryetta’s turn at bat when Skylar Morris bunted on used a Kellyville error to get on first then sped around the bases to third on that same error.
Lee followed that up with a single to left scoring Morris for the win.
Henryetta had 11 hits in that game with eight singles and three doubles.
HHS pitchers Serenity Rex and Shelby Kilhoffer gave up three hits to Kellyville but there were seven walks. Rex and Kilhoffer each struck out three during the game.
"We didn't play our best ball but anytime we are struggling and not playing great but still manage to win is something we can build off of," said coach Ryan Swallow.
