A trip to Kiefer Saturday did not turn out well for the Lady Knights as they lost back to back contests.
Playing in the Kiefer Festival. Henryetta lost 6-4 in the opener with Ripley then couldn’t get over the top with a 4-5 loss to Kiefer.
In the opening game, the Lady Knights started off with a one-run lead in the first. That was courtesy of McKayloa Greenhaw who walked in her opening time at bat. Henryetta would load the bases with a single by Shelby Kilhoffer then a walk by Alan Hicks. Brooklynn Baughman walked in th run when she took a ball four count with one out on Henryetta. Back to back strikeouts left everyone stranded and ended the inning.
Ripley would tie the game with a home run to center. That would be the first of two homers the Ripley Warriors would chalk up on the day.
Ripley moved ahead by one in the third inning on a RBI double to center.
In the fourth, the second homer would chalk up three runs and a fielder’s choice bunt added another.
The Lady Knights tried to come back in the fifth with Greenhaw getting a double to center scoring Kinley Miller. Kilhoffer followed that up with a double fly hit to center scoring Greenhaw. Kilhoffer would score when Hicks was thrown out at first on a dropped third strike.
Kilhoffer did the pitching honors for Henryetta. She struck out three batters, walked three and gave up seven hits.
In the second game, Kiefer jumped off to a three-run lead in the first inning then added two more in the second before Henryetta could get on the board.
That score for Henryetta came in the third when Baughman grounded into a fielder’s choice double play that let Kilhoffer score.
The trio of runs in the fourth inning were not enough to get back into a tie.
Winter Beaver had a single to right scoring Kassidy Lee then Kilhoffer had a line drive double that scored Chloe Swearingen and Greenhaw.
